Storing IP addresses

Are there any legal issues regarding the storage of a clients ip address that visits my site?

All web servers store IP addresses as a rule so your actions are not out of norm.

IP address in most cases are not private as they generally belong to the ISP and majority have dynamic IPs which means there is no single IP assigned to a client.
