Hello, I am 16 years of age and i have wanted to set up an online business for a very long time now and i plan to do so. I set out to make profit but also to gain experience. I am very mature for my age and i require 3-4 people to be also very mature and to dedicate themselves to this. Team need to be very active and freindly and open to listen to other peoples ideas and share thoughts with others. Team members should put in the same amount of work as others and we should all be trusted with one another. 16 is a really young age, no matter how 'mature' you say you may be. I have been taking A-Level business for the last 3 years, and business for 5, and also planned to open an online business but decided against it. So before you start your online business, you need to consult a few things:

What Law + Legislations will you need to consider?
How to produce certiain financial documents such as P+L accounts, Trial Balance ETC.
Where you gonna get the money to start a business?
Whats your marketing plan?
What advertising have you got planned?
Can you draw up contracts?
Finding online bnusiness partners is risky and i would advise against it especially at 16.
What internal and external research you got planned?
Primary Research? What about secondary research?

Again, as i said, in my opinion, 16 is a too young of an age to start any kind of business, at least take a business studies course .. it will help you significantly instead of just grabbing at an idea and hoping for the best.

I dont think 16 years is too young age to start an online business, I know many people of that age are in hosting and such different online business. If he has that much planning and budget he can appoint a mature CEO.

Agreed, I know a few too but none that are selling products/and services.
I'm just making sure he knows what to look out for, making sure he doesn't get himself into any legal trouble due to the 'warcraft' theme.

I am in my 4th year doing business studies. I understand theres alot of precautions but if people are willing to put the same amount of work in as me there shouldnt be a problem and if there is 4 of us. It should be fine. But i understand you completely Joe.

Start by your self, when you start making money - then consider hiring someone. 16 isn't too young if it's in you to do it, just a case of whether it is or not.

Also - you haven't stated what type of online-business you want to start. Web design? development? Hosting? domain name reg's?

Start on your own and build up gradually.

This will take time, but beginning something that you can steadily build up and chip away at in your free time is a great way to start.

One of the things you may want to consider is adding a bit more definition to the types of people you are seeking. Skills, experience, age, time requirements, location, etc.
