Hello,

I just want to confirm that what I want to do is legal according to copyright law. I'm designing a website that sells some stuff. I checked out a competitor and like the way they list their equipment. It looks something like the following

Title View Details
Brief Description Add to Cart

'View Details' and 'Add to Cart' are both links. Would it be against copyright law if I used this format?

I think you sould be ok unless you use their pictures, and something that is really unique to them.

No, they can't Copyright/legally protect the names of links. You are fine here. Considering every online shop I go to have these same links on them, it should have been an easy guess that this was ok.

But that's just me..

You can't borrow someone else's description though. That is covered by the site copyright. As are photos. You can usually use manufacturer descriptions and/or photos and many companies have sales media kits for this purpose. Or just get out a crayon and a pinhole camera and do it yourself for $1.99.
