Interesting Website but Hard to Advertise
I just launched a website that I find could be quite interesting to people within a certain market, the software development to be precise. The website is codecreek.biz, where devs can buy and sell source code.
But here's my dilemma:
-It's hard to advertise on development forums such as these, as messages can be interpreted as spam.
-I do not have the capital to advertise.
-I'm not acquainted with many developers myself.
What I've tried to do is set up a beta stage on my website where devs can come and have a very low commission rate on sales, 7%, in comparison with the usual 10% and most competitors ~50%. This has worked to a certain extent, but not that well.
So question: how would you promote this website, and where would you find beta testers?

Try a combo of LinkedIn plus Twitter. If I were you, I'd really try hard there.

Try to write technical articles. If you do not have time, then hire people.

You can try doing some S.E.O work on your website. Then post links on twitter and facebook about your site and tell your friends to post on facebook and tell their friends.

The first thing you should do is ask the few developers you know to test out the site and get feedback. If they like it then ask them to share it in their social networks.
Next step is to get some basic SEO done for the site. Some keyword research and on-site optimization will do for a start.
Then you can do some basic link building like directory submissions, profile links and social media submissions.
Hope this helps.
