What would you charge for a site like this?
Hello,
I'm new to the forums, I didn't know any sites like this even existed and hoping someone could help a newb out. I've been asked to create an e-commerce site where you can buy glasses. There are 70-100 frame options. Kind of like glassesdirect.co.uk but without contact lens and no frame fitting technology where you upload your picture and manipulate the frame on your face. What would be a good way to go about creating a site like this and what would you charge. I'm a grad student in college a web design novice my sites include emblem-ink which I made for my own company and some that I made for clubs at UCLA. Mostly I create websites for personal use and for friends so I've never had to charge anyone for a website before. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jennifer |

I don't think she's looking to outsource her own project, Mark...

:-) These things depend on what the client can pay and is willing to pay and your experience and clout and negotiating skills on both sides of the aisle, usually. Get it in writing.

Depends on your overheads, how long you think it will take and your hourly rate. My company has just won a contract to do an ecommerce site with initially 120 items to be included on it. We initially quoted 1500-2000 sterling but it'll probably be negotiated down to around the 1300 mark.
They were quite open with us though and they had quoted from 600 pounds to 2500 pounds. The 600 pound quote was from a one man company working from home, the 2500 pound quote was from an established web design company with decent offices to pay for. |

So you are looking at creating a shop and a web site.
I would not go lower than $500 and not higher than $2000. To create the shop. Get a server that supports php and MySQL, then install zencart or oscommerce on there. Then change it. |
