Sales Commissions
Our sales could be divided in to three main categories:
- Custom software
- Software (with mostly fixed price)
- Software with hardware (HW costs about 30% of the gross-price)
We have some sales agents, who receive only commission, no fixed salaries. We are constantly in process of finding more agents. What do you feel would be a decent commission, as percentage of the gross-price?
I know there is a lot of variables here, but all opinions are appreciated.

Anything between 15% and 40% seems reasonable and you can have different percentage according to sales volume.

To motivate your sales agents you can also offer commission on Incremental sales with regular commission which could be based on the number of product/services sold by individual in excess of the estimated target.

Use QuoteWerks to automate your sales commissions. You can enter in the amount if it set or base it on the price or cost of the items being sold. You can also use it to calculate commissions off of the gross profit.

I guess it ranges from 20% to 30%, it is a good deal
And if they have been generating a lot of sales for you and is a long time loyal affiliates or sales agent, you can increase the percentage of commission to appreciate their effort...
