I need a list of computer hardware names
Hi,
people programming their own computer hardware price comparison service
often ask where to get their price lists from. But what I need for my website is
not a price list, but just a recent list of the exact hardware names.
To distinguish them from each other, the names should contain the vendor
code, like in this example : "ASUS P5N72-T Premium nForce 780i SLI (dual
PC2-6400U DDR2) (90-MIB5A0-G0EAY00Z)".
Does anyone know where I can get a (free) list of all (or just recent) computer
hardware names? If not, then please tell me how hardware price comparison
services like shopping.com get their price lists from.
Thank you in advance.

Most of the time those services use the names supplied by the companies that advertise through them. I think that you'll find that they ask for a fairly "standard" format for the product titles. As an idea, they might as for something like "Brand Model Extra" so that all of the retailers can send correct details.
If there was a way to get the details of every single bit of hardware out there, it will take a VERY long time, and it is never-ending. If you want to run a system like this, there's no point paying someone to do it because none of your advertisers will ever be able ot match their products to your lists anyway.
