alarm clock idea

im quite new to c++ and i have been reading the book sams teach yourself c++ in 21 days i can make the hello world prog but im wanting to start trying to make a alarm clock am i setting my goals to high?

what i would like to know is where to start like the steps i should take like for example if i wanted to make a news script in php i would start by

1. finding out how to insert data in to a db
2. find out to to get the data from the db
3. find out how to update a news post
4. how to delete a news post


any thing would be helpfull as im stuck on what else u can do from the command promt

btw im using dev-c++ compiler

If you are just starting to learn C++ then you are definitely setting your goals to high. Start simple and then work your way up, it will take time but be worth the wait.

What should i do next though? like a simple calculator?

im stuck for ideas for what is posible in a console window
