I Need a free C++ IDE

Discuss I Need a free C++ IDE in the C Programming forum on Dev Shed.
I Need a free C++ IDE C programming forum discussing all C derivatives, including C#, C++, Object-C, and even plain old vanilla C. These languages are low level languages, and used on projects such as device drivers, compilers, and even whole computer operating systems.

Post I Need a free C++ IDE
Hi there, this is my first board post....

does anyone know of a free C++ IDE for linux? I am taking "object oriented programming in c++", but the professor prescribed MS (ack! cough! ack!) Visual C++ as the class standard. I would like to use something on my home comp though.

There must be something nice for free c++ development,. right?

IBM started an open source project called Eclipse to develop a multi-language Linux development IDE. (IBM claims that the name "Eclipse" isn't a shot at Sun, but I have my doubts). At Linux World a couple of months ago they announced the availabilty of the C/C++ plug-in.

hi,

this is an IDE for windows:

bloodshed

I have done some console work only (being a newbie ), but it supports graphical interfaces, too - though not using the MFC, I think.

As concerns Kdevelop...it looked fine to me once, too, but you come across some shortcomings. The way they refresh the class overview at the lefthandside seldom worked out right a.s.o.

Don't get me wrong - I am fond of OpenSourceLinuxGNUetc, but the KDE nearly drove me ...aargh...sometimes.

I don't know, I personally think Anjuta is a little better than KDevelop.
