install GCC

I wish to install GCC 3.3 as it is a pre-requisite for Image Magic , and many people want Image Magick . But I am getting confused by reading the Documentation at http://gcc.gnu.org/install .
Can some one run down any simple 1-2-3 steps based on what have downloaded . Linux is the OS , and I had downloaded the TAR files .
thanx in advance .

If you're installing on a distro that is able to use packages (Red Hat, Mandrake, Debian, etc) then you're better off installing using the distro's package.

you could sign up to the gcc help list - gcc-help@gcc.gnu.org - which you can sign up to from the gcc.gnu.org website and ask there maybe. it's specifically for installing gcc issues.
