posting data to mysql from BCB

I have a form which users enter info into and also has a submit button. I need to submit the details of the form to a database in mysql as a new record when the submit button is pressed. For example, if the database was on pets, then the user enters the pet name, owner name, species etc on the form and presses submit. the info goes to the database and the form clears. I have a database connection working fine...i can get info FROM my MySQL database, i am just unsure how to PUT data into it. Do i need to use post() or ApplyUpdates or both or what?!?

I am trying to teach myself how to use bcb but keep coming across irritating little problems such as this. Any help is much needed and appreciated.

For info, it is version 6 of bcb.

Depending on what type of controls or connectivity method you're using will determine the correct method for inserting the record. For example if your data is in an ADO dataset, then there will be an AddNew, AppendRecord, InsertRecord, etc. method for adding a new record.
