On the contrary, I felt the transition from C++ to Java was rather simple since I didn't have to worry about memory management.

Learning more languages will never hurt you, so just do it. C/C++ aren't going away any time soon.

I just took up C recently myself, and I find it very easy to learn. Of course, mastering it will be quite a journey, but that's true of any language.

Learning Java with a background of c++ wasn't all that simple, I got a little frustated at times when I didn't know how much Java would "take care" of things..

Just a tip, don't take on too many languages at once.. and "ease yourself into the language" as Stroustrup would've said

Pointers and dynamic memory management is the most difficult things in C. Once you master these, you have done the hardest part of C.
The hardest part of C++ is MFC.

An important thing to remember, though, is that MFC is not part of the C++ language. It is just another library that one may or may not need to learn.

Yes, sorry I might not have made that too clear.
MFC ... Microsoft's F___ING Crap

But, then again I am not a fan of windows for the most part. They can come in handy if you plan on doing MS GUI programming, but I don't go that route if I don't have to.
