VisualC++ 6.0: Howto build a cdburner app

I would like to build a cdburning application and simply don't know where to start. Somebody knows of some sample code to access the burner over the API used by, let's say, NERO? And what about usable controls?

As somebody slightly familiar to C programming and relatively new to C++, I would be glad to find some MSVC++ newsgroup.

Thanks for any hints and examples! (...please drop a line in my mailbox: URL)
