can anyone explain how remember me works?
I need to know a little about remember me, and in particular the security weaknesses it may possess...does anyone know of any good articles?

It's just a cookie. It's insecure if you're afraid someone else could use the computer (such as at a public computer). If that's not a concern, just set a cookie value that your system reads and bypasses the normal login process.
