Cold Fusion lecture
I've been asked to do a presentation on ColdFusion for some cs majors who have programming experience. However, my knowledge of ColdFusion only extends to ColdFusion 6. I was wondering if there's any new features in CF7 that are worth sharing with a group of beginners.

Flashpaper and cfform has some excellent features for cf7.
Watch both the vids on that page, youll appreciate CF7 after those. http://www.macromedia.com/software/coldfusion/demos/ |

Reporting engine, application events, Flash and XSL forms, improved control over WSDL, much better OOP abilities that CF6 lacked, and of course the huge one is the new Event Gateway which allows CF to respond to any network request, not just HTTP. Telnet, file system changes, database changes, instant messenger clients, etc. It also allows for asynchronous execution of CFML within CFCs.

Wow thanks guys, although for this bunch that may be a bit much. Although the OOP and flash stuff will definitly be worth mentioning. They'll be doing senior projects that encompass project management as well as development skills. I got roped into this because I'm the only alumnist still in town who's a CF programmer. The prof's got another alumnist to do php mysql.
