coldfusion hosts???

Does anyone know of any great web hosting services that I can run coldfusion on for an affordable price?? I see some on search engines for like 30 a month, etc. I need to set up a www.(whatevertheyneed).com that will run coldfusion but at an affordable rate...any ideas???? I appreciate it.

I've had good luck with Crystaltech. I've also heard that HostMySite is good. Both have basic CFMX plans under $20.

I had the same problem when looking for a host. I wanted to pay as little as possible because I was just getting started and needed a "test server" I use www.xtreme-host.com. For $3.95 a month I get 50MB space 4000MB bandwidth 5 emails and unlimited subdomains. The guy that runs it is really helpful. I'm a newbie and I have been emailing him a lot with questions I'm sure pain him to answer, but he responds FAST!!!! Good luck on your search.

I an heartily second the recommendation for CrystalTech. I've only been using them for a few months now, and they're the est shared host I've used.

They don't seem to mind reasonable custom requests either. I ordered two sites at the same time (intranet and extranet). In additon to both accessing their own DSNs, I wanted Site A to be able to access Site B's DSNs, but not the other way around.

Took 'em about 5 minutes to set this up for me.

http://www.paconline.net has also been a favorite of mine for years. I like the fact that they're a small operation. You call them up, and the cat that answers the phone is able to help you with just about anything (pre-sales, support) you need.

A few others I forgot about, that I'm currently using. If you want dirt-cheap...

www.UplinkEarth.com has a CF 5.0 account for $4.95/month with Access-only DSNs. MX and SQL are available, but cost more

www.viux.com has a CF MX plan that's also about $5/month.

I've been using both for a few months and they seem to be fine, but I haven't really done anything to put them to the test. They're basically just for search engine work. No complaints yet though.

I initially signed up on a CF shared hosting plan with a host who I dont want to name, and I learned the hard way to research thoroughly and ask every possible question before deciding on a host...

basically the main problem was lack of control.... i had to email them for dsn name, they lacked control panel of any sort that would allow me to set custom tag paths, etc..

kiteless recommended me crystaltech, and I'm happy... there were couple of occasions of few minutes of downtime, but i think they worked it out now...

I suggest CrystalTech.. and thanks to kiteless for the recommendation!

defineatly go with uplinkearth.com they are THE BEST, ive had 5 diff hosts before them and now ive had them for 6 months at they had 0 downtime whatsoever, they have a great support staff that get back to your support tickets within 5 minutes and you have support 24/7/365.

I've been with CFM-Resources.com for over 3 years and love these guys! Any issue I've ever had, just call and gets taken care of ASAP. They have some really awesome employees who go the extra mile. They have a free account with a $5 setup fee, $50 annual, $150 annual and what I have is the Gold acct for $130 annual. I get 100mb disk space, 1 connection to MS SQL DB, 1 FTP acct, 5 ODBC DSN's, Unlimited autoresponders, 3 subdomains, 10 email addresses and 2 GB monthly transfer. OH, and you do get a control panel to set up your db's yourself as well as admin. your own mail! For $130 a year? Can't beat it in my book.

Just my opinion...

Hostmysite.com arent good, they are the ultimate best... There support is amazing, and servers are never down.. I have 5 sites with them now, and will never not host with them, they have *nix servers as well on the smarterlinux.com plans.
