Coldfusion in dreamweaver using mysql.
Hi everyone, any ideas welcome!
(or just tell me how simple it should be!) I've just started using mysql, I can connect to the database and manage it pretty well. I'm using the front end interface navicat (which has helped). However when I test my coldfusion applications on localhost. I get an error "database not selected". Ive created the datasource in coldfusion administrator and odbc, tested it and it seems fine. The database appears in dreamweaver, though if I try to expand the tables I'm asked for a login ID and password. Nothing I try that seems logical works, (datasource user and password, mysql specified use username and password). I created a user account for the web application and granted privileges specifically for that database. Followed a tech note in macromedia though most of it was directed towards php and a remote testing server. Also repeated some of Ben Forta's W.A.C.K. with his mysql db and his code. Just to see how stupid I really was, but got the same result. found this at: http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/dwmx_dynamic_faq.htm "What databases have been tested with Dreamweaver MX 2004? Dreamweaver MX 2004 has been tested with the following databases. Note that PHP is supported only with MySQL databases. Microsoft Access 2000 and 2002 on Windows Microsoft SQL Server 2000 on Windows MySQL 4.0 on Linux and Macintosh OS X 10.2.6 Oracle 9i Enterprise on Linux and Windows " Theres some other stuff on there as well. It doesnt mention mysql on windows? Wondering if I can only use a remote testing server. Have been using coldfusion with access db for about a year and can normally figure stuff out via information on the web, but there seems very little on coldfusion with mysql. thanks - Sara |

Also I do have the myodbc3 drivers, and it shows up in odbc Admin. Also have a dsn set up in CF Admin and odbc, both tested successfully. What is a little weird is in winmysqladmin it says:
Not Found Driver version Driver C: \windows\system32\myodbc3.dll API Level Set up C: \windows\system32\myodbc3.dll SQL Level I've checked and they are there in win-sys32. I've reinstalled them downloaded different versions, manually copy and pasted them. Still the same result. I read something here- http://lists.mysql.com/win32/15023 saying it probably doesnt matter, and I checked my error report - nothing there. So basically I am stuck! -Sara |

I don't use MySQL (we use Oracle and SQL Server) so I'm afraid I can't help here. If anyone has some ideas please post them.

Thanks for the response kiteless,
made me feel better anyway! ![]() Forgot too mention that I'm using Coldfusion MX 6.1 on Win XP, should I be using a JDBC driver? Though thought I read that you can use either. My learning curve is a little overloaded. I've only been using coldfusion with access for a year or so and so far have got by ok ( with the help of google, forums and macromedia). However I've really struggled to find much on coldfusion and mysql. I've just sorted our VPN connection now so I'll see what fun that brings. Dont mind feeling stupid, if anyones got any ideas. It may well be something simple. I just really need to get this sorted soon! - Thanks anyway! Sara |

Reinstalled everything and started from scratch - now have mysql fully functioning on localhost and my remote server - everything works! Theres a good discussion here that helped me get my head round it: http://support.jodohost.com/search.php?searchid=63874 No more mysqHELL - I hope! - Sara
