coldfusion on apache running on Mac OS X

Hi:
I am running Mac Os X 10.2.6. running Apache 1.3.27
I have Macromedia Studio MX
I want to start learning ColdFusionMX.
I have downloaded ColdFusionMX for J2EE and JRun 4 from the Macromedia site.
I have read the info and help docs.
I installed JRun 4 and ColdFusionMX on my local Mac.
My impression is that ColdFusionMX has not been installed onto the Apache server on my Mac but onto the JRun 4 Server.
I want to install ColdFusionMX onto my Apache Server on my local Mac (to play with) before I deploy it onto an available Mac XServer.
I have no experience of any of this , this was my first time using the terminal window etc.
I would appreciate any guidelines help that could be offered.
there seems to be very little straightforward info about how to install ColdFusionMX onto Mac OS X Apache server.
Any help or advise gratefully accepted.

I am interested also in knowing how to setup and install CF on a Mac OS X box.
Has anyone responded to this thread in another manner? or have you had any luck elsewhere?

The version of Java you have installed is important - 1.4.1 makes the Coldfusion installer hang if you try and install Coldfusion anywhere other than the 'opt' directory, which is hidden in the Mac finder. To install into another folder use the terminal window in OSX to install using java 1.3.1.
Pay attention to the instructions especially the bit about the 'jrun_root' and 'cfmx-install_directory'
You can drag and drop a folder or directory into the terminal window and you end up with the correct path etc (saves typing)

JRun installed OK.

"I'm still not sure if this has installed on Apache or can be accessed by apache, I'm looking into that this weekend." I just re-read the instructions on the Macromedia info (address above). It's posible to run Apache with JRun using the JRun Web Server Configuration tool.

The following link is useful and has a different approach, I have not had a chance to review it but it seems involved.

I have a OSX 10.3.5 with JRUN 4 and CF 6.1 and installed Apache httpd 2.0.50, the trick is to get them to play nice all together. In the Jrun docs I found how to connect a JRUN to Apache. But the next trick is to get .cfm passed to jrun to process it as a CFML template?

To start:
From the command line, change directories to jrun_root/lib, and enter:
javaw -jar wsconfig.jar
NOTE: **jrun_root is the directory into which JRun 4 installs.

use the advance button to locate the apache bin(httpd) and start up file(apachectl) and inthe main screen select the .conf file

This will add the links for JRUN, but how do you add the links for .CFM?
