    Question Detect Connection Speed

    Hi All

I'm trying to get the connection speed from the visitor of my page to the webserver. Is there any simple way with ColdFusion?
Has anyone done this already? I couldn't find any related article via Google.
As other programming languages accomplish this it's like exchanging some data between server and host and work with a counter to be able to calculate the speed. But not sure how I can do that with ColdFusion...

P.S. Yes I'm aware that the connection speed depends on the servers and everything in between the request and the web server. That's exactly what I want and need.

    Thanks alot!

The only way to test connection speed is by timing a file download (and upload if you want upstream speed) with a known size and then figuring out the speed. Since there's no way to automate an upload from the browser in JavaScript, this why sites like speedtest.net use Flash.
