Does anyone know whether migrating from 4.0 to the current MX version is: (E) easy, (R) requires moderate mods or is a (C) complete rewrite? Existing code utilizes Oracle SQL, JScript and CF 4.0 on the server side only.

I think you would be all right, CFMX is pretty good at backward compatibility. It also includes a Code Compatibility Analyzer that you can run to check for problems.

Thanks for your quick reply. I've been contracted to reverse engineer an older app without docs, same old same old. The VB 5 and SQL stuff's a breeze, but the CF, HTML and JScript is challenging.
I'm trying to do some leg work prior to submitting Posts, but as a newbie that's quite a subjective point to reach, for this author. |

The single-IP version of CFMX is free...it would be rather easy to install it and run your app to see how it handles the older code.

Can that be run on a non-server device? I'm currently having to develop on a non-server box and using 'sneaker net' to load it on a secured test server.

It should run on any computer, but it will be limited to only responding to 1 IP address, so typically you can only use it on your local machine to develop.
