HELP: connecting to database in a shared CF hosting environment?

Hi,

I'm on shared hosting plan for cfmx... and created an empty database (mssql)...

the problem is, the hosting company tells me I have no access to admin page...

How do I set datasource then? I dont know if I'm using the right term here, but I can't just ad-hoc, can I ...

is there a right way to do go about this, or do I simply e-mail the company and ask them to set datasource for me... as with all the other things like custom tags paths, etc...

if that's the case, this is ridiculous, is it just my hosting company, or is it the CFMX, allowing only one user(my guess) for admin access?

HELP

>.<

If you don't have access to the ColdFusion administrator (and if you are on shared hosting I can virtually promise you that you don't), then you'll have to have the hosting company set up a datasource for you. Some hosts have management consoles where you can create your own datasources, but this varies from provider to provider.

it provides a console to create a database, but seems it's just that, not CF specific...

Well then you'll have to ask the host to create the DSN in the CF administrator. You might also complain to them, because virtually all mainstream CF hosting providers have interfaces where you can set up CF DSNs yourself.

I have another problem, I'm now told the do not allow creation of custom tag paths....

my whole site is running on cfcs & custom tags specific to my site.., what's my option now...

can you guys recommend any good ColdFusion shared hosting package on the net that allows custom tag paths?

I'm getting tired of dealing with the one I'm at... fortunately there's 30-day money back guarantee..
