ok how would i go about verefying the image size of an image on a remote server.
for example how would i verefy the size of this image: www.mostardesigns.com/images/evosmall.jpg |

You can use a custom tag like cfx_image or using something like the Java Advanced Imaging API or any of the Java API classes for image manipulation. If you do a Google search for image.cfc or "coldfusion image size" that should get you started.
ColdFusion MX 7 is projected to have image manipulation tag(s) built into it, FYI.
