I was hoping to teach myself CF and was wondering if anyone could recommend any good online resource that I could use as a starting point

Not many online resouces because there are so many good books on the subject already. Of course the Macromedia documentation is a good place to start. Beyond that I'd buy Ben Forta's ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit book.
