I'm considering trying out ColdFusion on my dedicated web server through managed.com. I want to know if I'm currently running a linux setup, will installing coldfusion disrupt any other programs running on the server? As is, I currently have a fully running webserver, but can ColdFusion be used as an add-on, or is it replacing my web server, etc that I currently use? The reason I'm installing it, is I would like to be able to use some CFTags I purchased on the web. Thanks for your help!

CFMX should not disrupt anything on the server, but it does cost money so I don't know if your host will simply set it up for you. CFMX requires a servlet container to run inside, which can be JRun (which is bundled with CFMX), or Tomcat, JBoss, or any other J2EE server. It doesn't replace your web server, your web server simply forwards requests for .cfm or .cfc pages to the CFMX engine, which creates output and hands it back to the web server, and the web server then sends it back to the end user.
