    Shop Cart-Problem w/ Unique Order No

    I have a shopping cart and just don't get the session variable thing to pass from one page to the other. In my Access DB I have a table with order numbers and get the MAX ID + 1 ok but need to update that table so next user gets a different order number.

    If someone could show me how to set up the application.cfm page and then pass the #session.token# in the pages to keep it unique I would love to use it.

    -----Here is application page code-------

    <CFAPPLICATION NAME="ccstore"
    CLIENTMANAGEMENT="YES"
    SESSIONMANAGEMENT="YES"
    SessionTimeOut="#CreateTimespan(0,0,5,0)#"
    ApplicationTimeout="#CreateTimeSpan(0,0,20,0)#"
    SetClientCookies="no"
    >

    <cfparam name="application.ds" default="store_biz1usa_com">

    <!---<cfset Session.AutoToken="?CFID=#CFID#&CFTOKEN=#CFTOKEN#">
    <cfset Session.XXAutoToken="?CFID=#CFID#&CFTOKEN=#CFTOKEN#">-------->

    -----Here is query in first page getting MAX ID-------

    <!--------Gets Order ID from DB-------->
    <cfquery name="getorderid" datasource="#application.ds#">

    Select
    Max(OrderNO+1) as Orderid

    From ordernumbers

    </cfquery>

    I have tried to update table with

    <cfquery database="#application.ds#>
    Update ordernumbers
    SET orderno=#orderno#
    Company=#orderno#

    </cfquery>

    When I do this there is no update to the record.
    This would place a value in a field in this record so that the next unique request would get the next max orderno

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    First, you don't have to manually build up a variable to hold the id and token. CF generates one already, called "session.urltoken". So in all your links and form posts, you do:

    <a href="sompage.cfm?#session.urltoken#">link</a>

    Next, as far as I can tell this is just wrong:

    <cfquery database="#application.ds#>
    Update ordernumbers
    SET orderno=#orderno#
    Company=#orderno#

    </cfquery>
    Without a WHERE clause, this will update ALL rows in your table. And I guess I'm still unclear what you are trying to do. Do you want to insert the newest id and company into the odernumbers table?
