I'm trying to build an application that will create and register a database. I've tried editing the service factory but that doesn't work. Any ideas would be helpful. Right now the best i can do is copy the database using cffile and copying and changing service factory values which does show the datasource in the administrator but it doesn't work until I manually go in and register it.

I think that making a copy and modifying it is the only way to make it work. I thnk that under the hood CF is using some sort of id system that you, from the outside, can't replicate.
Also, keep in mind that the approach you are using is totally unsupported and could break entirely whenever Macromedia changes the way CF works under the hood.

I talked to some people who have said that this is possible and that they've gotten it to work but unfortunately the code they've sent me doesn't work. Maybe there's something i missed. Any ideas would be appreciated.
