2 hard drives

Hi,
I'm running out of space on my computer and i wondered if i can have another hard drive? i have a spare one from my last computer, but have no idea how to link it up etc. Any help would be appriciated

Pretty simple really. Screw it in, plug in power and ide, set the jumpers (probably to "slave") and windows should detect it.

One place to start is your old HD drive manufacturers web site. They will usually offer advice and instructions on how to chain two drives on one IDE.

For most PCs: There are 4 IDE drives available. Primary master, primary slave, secondary master and secondary slave. There are two IDE ribbon cables. The Primaries are on the same IDE cable and the Secondaries are on the same IDE cable. The boot hard drive is the primary master. That leaves 3 choices open for your second hard drive. The best way to connect your second HD depends on how your case is set up. I have my 2 hard drives on the primay IDE and the CD-ROM and DVD-RW on the secondary IDE. That's the only way the cables will reach in my case.
