Access Denied when moving a Win 2000 HD to XP box
Hello all,
I used to have 2 computers on my network, a Windows 2000 Server box a Windows XP Pro. Long story short, the registry on the 2000 box became corrupt and will no longer boot. I slaved its hard drive in the XP Pro box in hopes to extract the files on the box before I reformat it. When I try to access the 2000 hard drive slaved in my XP box I get an "Access Denied" message. Is there any way around this? Thanks! |

Problem Solved
Hi guys, I figured this out...
I went to the locked drive in My Computer, picked properties, and chose Backup on the Tools tab. For some reason the backup utility can navigate the locked drive even though My Computer and DOS could not. I backed up the needed files to the master drive, formatted the locked drive, and then restored the files back to it.. problem solved. |
