Additional Power Adapter...<?>

Doing a search on newegg.com for a hard drive, I found this information for a hard drive I am interested in purchasing...
Quote:
Seagate 80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model ST380013AS, OEM (limit 9999 per customer)

- Specifications -

Capacity: 80GB
Average Seek Time: 8.5 ms
Buffer: 8MB
Rotational Speed: 7200 RPM
Interface: Serial ATA
Features: 3D Defense System
Manufacturer Warranty: 1 year
Packaging: OEM, Requires additional Power adapter

Model#: ST380013AS
Item#: N82E16822148019

What is an "additional Power adapter?" I have purchased and installed hard drives before and I just plugged the cords from the power supply into the hard drive and everything worked fine. This seems to say I need to buy something else to make it work...what is this adapter? Does anyone have any insight into this?

That is a SATA hard drive, so it needs SATA power connectors. If you have a new power supply, it may have come with a SATA connection or two. If not, you'll need to buy an adapter like this one

SATA Adapter Question

I just bought a hard drive and it has two SATA connectors. I don't have a SATA hard drive and don't have enough regular power connectors to connect everything. I need an adapter obviously, but everywhere I look there are adapters that go from the 4-pin female to the SATA female. Does a male SATA to female 4-pin power connector exist. And where can I get one. Sorry about the complicated description. So it's the oppositte of what the previous person was asking.

What setup do you have? I've never had any problem with the number of connectors.
I don't know of a SATA to IDE power adapter, but you can buy more y adapters like this to increase the number of devices you can plug in.
