Are there any signs when a cpu is dead? How can i tell ?

Try another CPU and se if the result is the same. Or try it on some friends motherboard and se if it works there.

Well, that would be good advice assuming someone has a bunch of CPUs lying about and/or a friend with a compatible motherboard willing to have it ripped apart for testing.
What makes you think it's dead? If your 'puter doesn't work it could be any number of other things.

If you had the luck of a friend or such with a compatible cpu or motherboard, that would be a good way to start ruling out reasons.
Another way is to try booting the computer without memory and CPU, then with only memory, then with only CPU and finaly with both CPU and memory. Some BIOSs give different beeps on different boot errors. |
