Atx Power Supply Question

Have an Atx Power supply that died ... just received an atx replacement but it only has 2 motherboard connectors ... the original had 3 ... the 3rd connector looks simular to one of the old AT power connectors (P8) ... except it has a only Red, Orange, and Black wires ... the PC fires up without this connector so I'm wondering what this 3rd connector is for and if I need to worry about it???

The 3 connectors you will find on ATX power supplies are as follows

* 20-pin main power connector; the standard ATX power connector.
* 4-pin +12V power connector; required for all Pentium 4 processor-based systems.
* 6-pin AUX power connector; recommended by V2.03 of the ATX Specification for motherboard's requiring 250W or 300W supplies.

If you have a P4 you should have the 20 and 4 pin cables connected. The 6 pin cable is needed if your board draws a large amount of power (eg if you have high spec gfx card).
