0213 error
Quote: | Originally Posted by ScottV I am rebuilding my old computer, I am moving parts from my sister's almost 10 year old computer. Over to my 766mhz hp pavilion 7840. I did move a ethernet card over, but kept getting operating system not found. So I took it out, the computer has no cards just a motherboard,cd-rom,hard drive, along with a power source.
My problem seems to be either two things
1. my keyboard locks up on me telling me to unlock it but have no clue how to do that. 0213 i believe the code is
2. I get by the much aggrvating keyboard lock, but the screen turns completly blank I hear a beep and thats it.
I can't even use the cd-rom to load any sort of programs
The keyboard I use is a multimedia GE keyboard just bought it
Please help me out I am getting rather aggrvated

If your machine is set to autoboot, it will not give you the BOOT> prompt. Instead, it will try to find a device that it can go to the next stage with (the ISL). To stop the autoboot, hit the ESC key. If your HP does not present you with the option of aborting the autoboot, then your machine is in Secure Mode, causing the 0213 problem as well as the other problems you are experiencing. To unset secure mode, you need to unplug all bootable devices (this include the network, all harddrives, tapes, and CDROMs). Once you get the BOOT prompt, type secure off. You can then power off your machine and plug everything back in.
This normally works, good luck.
