Building a new computer ?

I am thinking of building myself a new computer at home cause my laptop isn't sufficient anymore.

What do you guys suggest.

I might do some programmation on it, but very little.
But I still want the computer to be fast enough.
I tought of a 3.0ghz processor (didn't decide wich one yet, I love price of amd), 1ghz of sdram(should I add more?)
My biggest problem is to choose the Video Accellerator cards I will use. I have no knowledge in those, and I am not up to date at all.

I would like to hear your suggestion on products. And on where to buy.
I am from Canada, so I don't know about delivery if I buy online.
Which flat lcd screen, should I choose who doesn't cost a fortune ?
or would an industrial lcd panel with a vga entry make the job !

is http://www.dealtime.com/ a good website to found good prices ?

What you make is really a function of what you are going to use it for. If you're mostly a word processing/web surfing kind of user, you don't need the same kind of hardware as a hardcore gamer. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/gr...1229/index.html is a good graphics card comparison.
Let us know what you're using it for, and I can help more
