So i have a nice monitor, and keyboard, and mouse. Really i just need a tower. Is there any site that would let me customize just a tower? I dont trust myself to build my own.

FlamingxJune,
Building your own PC is fairly easy. Get all parts from http://www.Newegg.com. Order on a Monday have it on a Wednesday (3 business days). The parts can only go in one way in one spot and it's more rewarding. I don't know any sites other than Dell that I'd buy a premade tower from. |

I got a Shuttle from www.ajump.com that you can customize. I've been happy with it.

(^^;?(Yes, it would be easy.)
But you must trust yourself first, because there are several towers; small, middle and high, also fat and slim. You should think of the image of your PC system completed. And also you'd better explain your main purpose well. Then bro/sis would instruct you in details. (^^;?(As I'm not familiar with the market in your location. By the by, Lounge? where's it?) |

erm ok megumi. I moved the thread from the Devshed Lounge to the Hardware Forum.
If you're in the UK flamingxjune, I'd suggest Aria.co.uk or Novatech.co.uk - in the US I'm not sure but AJump.com looks good from my point of view. If you feel like you want the challenge of building your own tower, let us know what kind of system and specifications (including case) you'd like and your budget and we can help make sure its all compatible. i'm no stranger to the inside of a computer. i've replaced almost every part of different computers other than the power supply and motherboard. i want a gaming/media computer. i'm not a hardcore gamer, but the games i do play are resource hogs (MMORPGS). I watch all of my dvds on my computer. i'm pretty heavy into music production (cool edit pro, FL Studio). I'll likely get a sound card like this (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/search/detail/base_pid/240390/) and a sound blaster. hmm...well if you need more info tell me! |

ok so any preferences to Intel/AMD?
would you like a Shuttle system perhaps? I'd suggest an AMD Shuttle, perhaps 2800+? with a 120Gb HDD, DVD Burner and 512Mb RAM and a 128Mb AGP Graphics. I can't suggest more than that till you tell me more ![]() |

AMD for sure. Maybe a 64bit? As for the graphics, radeon or nvidia? I know there are millions of articles on that subject but do you personally have a preference? What is a shuttle system? |

Ok AMD is good.
64 bit - do you really need it and would the programs you use benefit from it (would you use XP 64-Bit edition for example). No personal preference on Radeon or nVidia - I have a Radeon in my system now doing well. A shuttle is this. Very smart and well designed barebones systems. computer |

The power supplies that come with Shuttle systems are small, though. I know they market some of them as "gaming rigs" and they look nice, but check everything out before hand. Running the latest graphics card, processor and a DVD drive on a 200W processor may bring you more trouble that it's worth.
I do have a shuttle that runs an ATI Radeon 9600XT very well, though. ---John Holmes... |
