Building with Refurbished parts

I was thinking about building a computer with refurbished goods and I was wondering if this was a good idea. I checked out this website edexdeals.com which seems to have pretty good prices on parts. Has anyone had experience with the website? Are there better ones out there. Am I in over my head?

I highly recommend never buying refurbished mechanical harddrives or displays. These are the least reliable components of a computer, some of the most expensive. Plus harddrives are the single component where reliability is most important.

The major issue you want to watch out for is damaged capacitors. Overheating or power issues can cause capacitors to blow. This is most likely to happen on motherboards or graphics cards which have not been properly cooled.

CPUs and memory are virtually wear free. Unless it's DOA it's not likely to ever wear out.

Also, unless you reply with a meaningful post I'm reporting this as spam.

I appreciate your advice. It sounds more intimidating than I originally expected. Obviously I don't know very much but what websites would you recommend that I check out for parts?

You can't go wrong with Newegg for new or refurbished parts. I almost never buy from anywhere else.

E-Oreo agrees: Newegg is my primary source for computer parts
