Can i turn off my laptop screen while using a TV as a external monitor?
Can i have my laptop screen turned off/blank (ie: just a plain black screen) while using my tv as an external monitor? Because when i connect my laptop to my PC and change my resolution to my tvs resolution and watch a video/play a game, the graphics on my Laptop glitch out a bit and flicker and it gets pretty annoying.

If you use an external keyboard and mouse you can just shut the lid. Otherwise I imagine your BIOS and/or OS will have to provide some service to blank the laptop screen when using an external monitor.

Some laptops provide this as a function you activate using the function key + some other key. For instance, on my asus laptop, Fn+F7 will disable the screen.

If you are using an external mouse/keyboard and want to just close the lid, you may have to make sure you configure the laptop to not power down or go to sleep when you close the lid. For windows, this is usually setup in the power configuration options in the control panel.
