Hey m8,
You didnt specify what your board model number is. An when you posted your specs, did you mean a DVD-ROM, and CD-ROM, maybe you should tryo booting from your DVD drive, if that dosent work, It myte be a BIOS issue, if that cant be fixed, you might have to flash your BIOS, or return the board,

Hope that helps

How is your Hard drive partitioned/formatted? I had the same trouble. I either used the floppy disks or I booted from Win98 CD-ROM, loaded Win98, then with a windows O/S, you can access the CD-ROM with WinXP, run setup and eventually get to either a dual boot system get it to upgrade Win98 to WinXP.

To boot Win98, you have only to download Win98bootdisk from bootdisk.com.

Be careful of updating Bios. It is a good thing to do so fundamentally, but it is unthinkable that recent bios can't support CD boot if it's new.

Then, what is B:? Enter "dir b:" to confirm it.

Did you select CD-Rom support? Which and which did the bios recognized?

If the Win98bootdisk doesn't work for some reason. You can also try other disk, 6XP bootdisk or 4 W2K disks etc., also available from bootdisk.com or Microsoft. In any ways, you must make the OS recognize the devices appearing in bios correctly by all means.

Note: HDD is unrecognized from DOS, if it is not partitioned or regarded as unpartitioned. In this case, you should partition the disk first by fdisk or some utilities.
