My CD-RW drive will not stay closed. When I push the open/close button it closes for a few seconds. The lights flash like it's reading and then it reopens. It doesn't matter if there's a disk in the tray or not. If I force it close it will read and write on the discs sometimes. I'm afraid that that will hurt the drive more than what it is now. Is their a way to fix it without buying another CD-RW drive?

...you may have already done this
1. Uninstall the hardware (Device Manager) 2. Disconnect the device and bring the machine up without it plugged in. 3. Bring the machine back down and install the device again. 4. Update the firmware and repeat the first three steps. Hope this helps Good luck! |

I think the tray closes too fast. If I make the tray close slower it then will stay closed and read and write with no problem.
