cdrom drive problem
cdrom keeps on dispalying: cdrom drive is locked by a disc utility... macromedia flash for win98 se... cdrom can't currently read cd's... any solutions?

What did you do before this error started? When does the message display? What kind of cd-rom?

Do you have DirectCD or some other similar type of software installed?
Generally, those programs will lock up the cdrom drive so it can be used only to burn cd's.

i just popped in a cd and it won't read at all... i tried other cd's but still the same result... what do you mean "what kind of cd-rom"? hmmm laptop cd-rom if that's what you mean hrhr

I assume you've tried shutting down and rebooting the computer. What are you doing with flash? Have you installed the flash command line tools by chance?

It could also be that the cdrom drive has gone bad. That happens quite frequently. Although the error message is generally "Cannot Read from Drive D:....."
I read your first post, but that doesn't sound like the exact error message you are getting. Can you post the exact message?

go to the device manager, uninstall/remove the drive reboot, let it reinstall, see if it still happens
