"Checking NVRAM" my sweaty arse!

I just bought a stick of 128mb PC133 AZENRAM from futureshop (dont just reply that that's my problem because I thought of that already) and crammed it into my computer and now it hangs at Checking NVRAM when I boot.

My Computer:
600MHz Athlon
Asus k7m motherboard
soundblaster audigy so-and-so (not sure which but 1999 era)
ati rage 32 video
... and some more

Please post what help you can.

P.S. yes i cleared the cmos/ reset all bios
