Click of Death? RIP HDD? look inside for free video :)

about 9 months ago my hard drive started making a clicking noise it disconnected from the operating system, restarted it and back it came..phew... but now its making the same clicking noise and not getting recognised in dos. I could really do with getting my data recovered, as losing 80gb's worth of stuff is not a pleasent experience.
i have made a video with the power of my webcam to show you what i mean, yes your all thinking why i took the cover off my hard drive, but it doesnt really matter if its unsalvageable.

I've heard something about freezing the hard drive to get some data off, is this possible in my case?

Thanks for any replies.

Helz

Clicking + not recognized = you should have backed up
Recovery-wise, if its dead, you'll probably need a pro to get your data off, because even if you do manage to get it working, continued use could cause further damage. You can risk it if you want, but if there's data that you really must have, a data recovery service would be my choice. And next time I would back up routinely

the thing is its my backup hard drive
will have to find somewhere else to store it, i might purchase a few DVDRAMS for that vital information...
the data thats on there is not life-threatingly important but it would be handy to have back.
its just a wierd error, looking at it, it looks brand new.
ill have a go at the freezing thing, will check up some more information about what other people have done, and see if it works, if it doesnt, it goes in the bin.

Thanks for your reply
