Comp not Booting - Added new Ram

Pentium II
Win 98
dont know much else
8 gigs of memory
64 mb RAM
My friend just got a new computer and gave me his old one. So I took its 32mb of RAM and put it in the slot of my computer. Now it wont boot. The screen just gives me a No Signal Cable. I tried different monitors to be safe, but its the computer.
I took out the RAM and it still wont start up. I kept turning it on and off but still no progress.
What can he do? Sorry, I'm new at hardware stuff. What more info can i give you to help my situation?

(^^;?(Though I can't make out even which is which of whom well.)

For example, PentiumII should have kind of 100Mhz and 66Mhz base clock, and PentiumIII only works on 100Mhz or 133Mhz. Then you must use matched ram PC66, PC100, PC133.

First check and search the type of CPU and RAM of yours and his. The story would begin here or automatically solved.

well it may have been to much. But now I have taken the additional RAM out and it does not boot. I think I resettedt he CMOS correctly, (I put the pin from the 2-3 position to the 1-2 and then back again); still doenst boot.

(It might have broken the BIOS.)

Unplug power cable.

Remove all peripherals unnecessary for boot, floppy only, as usually.

Remove CMOS battery for a while or replace it for new one.

Change memory slot, one memory only, and reseat CPU.

If the floppy doesn't read, there's of little hope.

How do I remove the CMOS battery? When you say reset the just mean turn it on right? You think adding the wrong RAM broke my Bios?

(^^;?

You'll find a round small battery on the board, usually a button type. Ordinary alkaline battery seems to work as replacement, if you can attach.

You think adding the wrong RAM broke my Bios? <--(~~;(It is not rare and not so much broken as gone, as well as data on floppy or HDD is gone suddenly. Though it is called Bios Read-Only-Memory, actually half a RAM easily affected by electrical shock, rather than by RAM itself. As a matter of fact the first business for CPU is to read the BIOS data into memory, when done, Bios controls CPU, but when it fails, Uncontroled CPU's behaviour is unknown, Or likely wrongly written bios on wrong memory can command CPU to write me back to BIOS ROM.

Reseat means once taken out, because in such a case new electrical shock is needed to awaken the half forgotten bios data.
