Comp won't boot

Alright, I've searched the forum, and I have come up with no answers to my question...I guess that this is one of those system by system types of things.

I'm not a hardware guru by any means, but I thought that I was compotent enough to handle this task. I needed to see what type of RAM a computer on our network uses, so I took the case off, and pulled out the ram chip. PC133, easy enough.

I securly placed the RAM back into the machine, checked to make sure that I didn't loosen or disconnect any of the cables coming off of the MoBo, sealed it back up, hooked up and fired it up.

When the computer first turns on, the green power light comes on, and it makes a little noise for perhaps half a second. Then it seems to die, and the power light turns to the amber color that indicates hybernation.

I've rechecked that the ram was properly installed, and all the cables were indeed hooked up properly; however, I am still getting this problem.

Does any one know what would cause it to start to boot for that half second, and then stop?

Thanks for the help everyone.

OK, I'll go slow, so you can keep up! This sounds like a BIOS issue, If you can, reset the CMOS on the board with the 3 pin jumper setting, if you dont feel up to it, turn on your PC, and hold the HOME key AND the Reset Switch at the SAME time, I think that boots with "fail-safe" settings.

Good Luck!

just to be sure, how hard did you push to get the RAM seated back in properly?
