This may or may not be a hardware issue, but I've got no other ideas...
My computer literally sounds like it is playing a game of PONG. There is a variation of high and low beeps that are short and various in pitch. It begins as soon as I turn the computer on, before Windows XP loads. As the system runs the beeps will slow down and eventually subside....except for the occasional beep and/or beeps that are unpredictable and show no pattern in time. I've got an AMD 550 (I know, time to upgrade...) and I think an American Megatrends BIOS. Any thoughts? Note that I've run Norton on the system at least 10 times, reseated the RAM and re-booted each time I installed the new chip, and have done a system restore to the oldest possible date. huh??
Sorry, this makes very little sense to me. Years ago I thought I was on top of the computer game, but now I'm almost a babbling idiot
I think you are referring to the beep codes, but I can't figure out if it's any sort of a pattern or not. There seems to be no consistency to the beep patterns, but the system works perfectly normal....just annoying beeps over-and-over-and-over-and-over-and-over. Quote:

Holy crap... that kinda scared me there... I once heard of a PONG virus from this hacker that got expelled without explanation (he wasn't really me friend but I was the only one who actually cared to know him.. weird kid he was!)... He said "boot a computer with this and the MBR will be infected with PONG and the rest of the data will be corrupted." This meant that whenever the computer booted there was a PONG game you could never quit unless you reset... but PONG came back again. I don't know if he wrote it or not but the fact he got expelled for no apparent reason and I never heard of him ever again (web, phone anything) made me think he must of done some really funky **** to get that... Kind of the reason I stopped trying to write junk and hack/crack and got into real programming...
Haha... that was useless info everyone could of done without ![]() |

(^^;?(I see, but the bios is never playing games, if it is active.)
That is why, I am made to say that, if you cannot discern them, the cause must be complex. you cannot but check them one by one or leave them alone with the system speaker unplugged. It's your choice. |

(^^;?( The bois isn't playing game, but virus likes doing.)
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default2.asp?m=q&virus=netsky&alt=netsky are now in fashion. They seems sometimes sounds intermittent beeps reportedly. Note: Norton sometime ignores this kind of Worms. |
