computer not starting

hey everyone, ive run into a little problem. My computer turns on, the motherboard light goes on, no post beep, and no video. One day the whole machine locked up completely so i shut it off, and tried to turn it back on and that happened. Any suggestions on what it could be.

have you tried disconnecting everything from the board besides CPU, RAM, Video and keyboard. Just have the essentials so you can see what is happening and turn on the board. If the machine then starts turn if off and connect each item one by one, turning it on after connecting each one. From there you should be able to work out what is causing the issue. If it doesn't turn on with just the essentials connected it could be a dead motherboard or RAM or Video card. Really the only way to work this out is replace them and see if anything changes.

Have you tried unplugging power for a few minutes? I've seen this happen where the machine will lock up, not post or boot, and then after leaving it unplugged for a couple minutes, it works. This solution is related to what is called a "power good" signal.

Do you mean atx12v supply or atx power connector or ex plug1.

What I meant was to unplug the power cable from the back of the PC.

My computer again the same.It was working for a couple of hours then it stopped working.
I will buy new motherboard.I thought it might be the motherboard problem.
I bought today another motherboard p4s800 and it is okey.It works.
By the way i just installed new motherboard instead of old one.On case battery shape under reset button is blinking as red.
Can it be older motherboard`s battery empty or related?Wyh my new motherboard is blinking red buttery shape?
Do you have any idea?
Can it be cmos battery charge?

Greetings

I don't know if I've ever seen a battery icon on the front of a case outside of a UPS. If it looks like a cylinder, it's probably the hard drive activity light. (I've had people call it the battery light before). That one blinking is a good sign--it means the hard drive is being accessed.

hm...

iv had similar problems to this before(never fixed em )first my comp wouldnt boot and jus kept beeping and beeping.... back then i didnt know much about comps(i was about 11) so i jus told my dad and he went and used all my money to buy me a new barebone (only after i did months of reasearch and learned alot) so i watched him put it together and i learned even more . then hes comp started locking him out after a power outage, so he got a new one and gave the old one to me soon (after about a week or 2) it started to lock me out(bummer) so now im onto a new comp (i built it myself ) and the old 1 is gone. the first comp was a HP pavillion or something and the second was a coustom built( it was sooo fast with 2 gigs of ram and dual amd athalon )
so if any one could give suggestions id be glad to go dig them up and test it all out
