Exclamation Computer Shutdown

I have a intel 850gb mobo and I formatted my HDD 2x thinking it was a bad install. When I hit start.. shudown..not restart the computer goes thru the powering down phrase I hear the familiar click of the HDD whichs turns it off and BAM, the HDD is off but the mobo and fans including cpu are still on. I replaced the Power SUpply to no avail. I have to hit the reset button then the power button to quickly too turn off computer. Strange, im thinking the mobo is not sending the signal to the power supply commanding it to turn off. My hdd is new and was working finr, I like to reformat my hdd 2x a year to clean off the mess I accumulate lol.

winxp Pro
intel 850gb mobo
786 rdram pc800
WD160 hdd
P4 1.5
antec truepower 430 p/s

Did you ever try to wait any longer (like up to 10 minutes) to see if it eventually shuts down by itself?

Yes, Overnight and still running when i was making coffee eight hrs later (I like to sleep rofl)

This is the first time it has ever happened in over 12 formats lol. Im running a clean install with no programs other than XPPro.

Beats me. All other times the computer just shutdowns in a few seconds.

Hmmmm... that is quite odd... Try disconnecting all the stupid little plugs and wires (blow in the to clean them spitting the least possible or gettin gone of those cans...) and then reconnect everything taking your time and refereing to the mobo book... That might sound like a dumb idea to you but it's these type of things that usually work for me.
