DDR Memory And SDRAM Memory??
Hi,
Just getting to grips with building machines, i have a machine at the moment with a pc chips motherboard in M935DLR. I have 2 black banks for memory, i have one 256mb SDRAM stick in there allready, can i add a stick of 256 DDR memory to the red bank slot while leaving the 256 SDRAM stick in the black dim slot. Is this possible? 2 different types of memory in the same board at the same time or do you have to go with 2 sticks of SDRAM or 2 Sticks of DDR in at any one time. Can you mix and match? The machine is currently running fine at the moment with the SDRAM stick, although i would like to get some use out of the DDR Stick. Cheers Darren |

First, you have your terms confused. DDR (Double data rate) is a type of SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory). DDR SDRAM is different from SDR (Single data rate) SDRAM, but it is still SDRAM. That said, if your current computer has SDR SDRAM (PC100 or 133), you can't put in DDR, its not supported, and vice versa.
