Is DDR2 an excellent memory?
I have recently joined this forum just beacuse of some issues which are colliding in my mind..

Server? Not really. It used to be acceptable, but I'd go with much newer technologies if you are getting into buying it anyways. Bottom line, a Server is NOT where you'd want to scrimp on cheap parts.

For server I don't think so but for computing it is a perfect RAM. Generally many of the hardware engineers prefer DDR2.
