Dell Latitude monitor problem

Ok, I have a Dell Lattitude CPia. Its been working fine for me over the past three years, but now am having trouble with it. I get balloon in the Quicktask bar that states "Usb surge" Whether that has something to do with the problem I have no clue. But on to the problem.

When I turn on my laptop, I can hear it booting up, the windows log on sound and everything. Problem is I get no screen. Its just blank white. I have no clue why this started, maybe it had something to do with that "power surge" or maybe not. When I turn it off, and turn it on, it boots up normally but still a blank screen. Its only happened once before, and out of the blue, it started working screen and all. Unfortunantly this time it didnt work.

Ive searched the forums and got some ideas like the taking out the battery for 10 mins, but that didnt work.

if that happens its probably a dodgy connection to the screen. Also the USB surge might mean your trying to suck too much out of the port, which running on bateries might mean not enough battery life to run the screen but I doubt it.

take it into a local PC shop and see if they can take the cover off and push the connections for you...

Ok....i know quite a bit about Dell computers. What you need to do is find out if the laptop is under warranty? because if it is tech support can send you a replacement they will. If you dont have a replacement warranty. They might be able to sell you one. those are my suggestions

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the help. Yeah, as far as warranty goes, its not unfortunantly. I have the setting on my laptop that when I fold the monitor down, it goes to standby, well when I did that, I waited for the monitor to cut off and opened it back up and the screen came on, it had lines running through then cleared up. So I'm assuming that theres something loose. I will look into this. Thats for the help fellas.

laptop monitor problems

I am having exactly the same problem with my laptop monitor. I have already tried removing the battery. If I connect the laptop to an external monitor it works fine. If I try to swap between the two monitors sometimes the monitor show the pciture for a fraction of second. Can anyone help?
