dual dispaly headache
now, i have a nvidia gforce mx 200 (64mb) card on a agp slot in a Intel 845GEBV2 mobo. the mobo has onboard display. but it gets disabled as soon as there is a card in the agp slot. i also tried putting in a PCI graphics adapter and enabling dual display. what am i doing wrong???
and is it possible to have one monitor in 32bit-1280-1024 and the other one in 32bit-1024-768 resolution??? or do both the monitors has to have the same resolution?? |

One agp card only at a time, probably because it use same irq. PCI 1, first slot often shares IRQ with AGP, then avoid here. If you use 2 cards, different resolution is possible, but disable mirroring. If you use the card which has 2 output, it has to have one reso.. XP seems to have severer driver problems than Win98. ?(I'm not familiar with each cards.) |

As megumi suggested, multiple cards are not possible to have. Your mainboard, unless it's highly specialized, has the capacity to output video data through only one channel. It has everything to do with IRQ channels, I/O Ports, and just plan bus and chip design. The only practicle way to get dual monitors is to buy a video card with a TV out or dual monitor output.
